[University of Tennessee] Postdoctoral Positions in Optics/Modeling/Nanotech
A unique opportunity exists in East Tennessee for an exceptionally gifted young experimental condensed matter scientist. This is a result of world-class capabilities in surface characterization and materials synthesis. The successful applicant will have access to ARPES (Scienta R4000), variable temperature STM (home build), newly developed LEED IV codes and cameras, high-resolution, momentum-resolved inelastic electron scattering, and close collaboration with scientists in the NanoPhysics group at the Center for Nanophase Material Sciences (CNMS) at ORNL. He or she will also work in collaboration with scientists at ORNL making new materials. In the Materials Sciences and Technology and CNMS Divisions at ORNL these scientists synthesize bulk layered, transition-metal oxide (TMO) samples, grow and characterize thin films of TMOs. This can be a three to four year appointment so I am looking for someone who recently received a Ph.D.
