The Malaysian Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan for Postgraduate Studies in Malaysia
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must be the Commonwealth citizens or British protected persons residing in countries of the Commonwealth other than Malaysia as listed in Appendix II. Applicants must be a graduate of a University or College in their own countries or holders of an equivalent qualification. Applicants must have a minimum standard of upper second class honours or CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at bachelor`s degree level.
TENURE OF AWARDS
The awards for Masters degree are between 12 to 24 months depending on the courses. Awards for pursuing PhD degree are for 3 years. The academic term in Malaysia commences in July but candidates may also register in the second semester commencing in December. The Awards are only applicable for candidates pursuing full-time degree programme in Malaysia.
VALUE OF AWARDS
The value of the award has been designed to accommodate the scholar`s need throughout his/ her studies which covers the scholar`s living, study and travel expenses during tenure of the scholarship.
Each scholarship consists of:
- a return air tickets from recipient`s capital city to Malaysia;
- an approved tuition fees by the respective university;
- monthly maintenance allowance; a yearly grant for books and internal travel;
- thesis allowance, installation and termination grant.
Family allowance for accompanying spouse or children.
PLACEMENT IN MALAYSIAN UNIVERSITIES
University`s application for admission is solely the candidate`s responsibility. Proof of admission is not a pre-requisite to the award. Selection committee for Commonwealth Scholarship will only consider qualified applicants with outstanding academic achievement and professional performance.
HOW TO APPLY FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP
Applicants should complete the application form ( in 2 copies ) attached with this document. The following documentation must be attached with the application form:
- A certified copy of the applicant`s current passport showing evidence of citizenship;
- The applicant`s academic records, testimonials and/ or references relating to the relevant study, co-curricullum activities, achievements;
- A letter from certified doctor declaring the applicant`s good health;
- Passport-size photograph (2 copies);
- Completed Medical Report;
- A clear and precise study or research plan;
- English language proficiency certificate or test score (if any);
- Admission letter for post-graduate study (if any); and
- Two letters of appraisal.
Notes:
All certificates and related documents submitted must be certified by a recognised official or by the institution that issued the documents and must bear the official stamp and signature of the certifier. Official translation in English is required if the transcript is in other languages. Applications must be endorsed by the Ministry of Foregn Affairs or agency responsible for technical cooperation in the respective recipient`s Government and submitted to the Malaysian Goverment Representatives in the country in which the applicant has his/her permanent home; or send direct to:

Undergraduate Scholarship Universiti Malaysia Sarawak
Malaysia opens offer of undergraduate scholarship for you which wish to continuing education in Malaysia. Now a lot of student of Indonesia is continuing their study in Malaysia universities. B. OBJECTIVE

C. SCHOLARSHIP PROVISIONS
i. Successful candidates will be exempted from paying study fees, registration fees and viva voce fees.

-Masters Programme; RM800 x 24 months (4 semesters/2 years)

E. REQUIREMENTS
i. Applications are open to Malaysian and Non-Malaysian citizens who are currently or will be pursuing fulltime research studies at UMS. For PGD (MOSTI), only Malaysians are eligible to apply.
ii. Candidates not having any other financial support or scholarships and are not engaged in any type of employment (e.g.Tutor in Local Higher Education Institutions or Government Servant/ Government Agency).
iii. Candidates who have been awarded Bachelor Degree with first class or second upper (CGPA > 3.00) qualifications for Masters Programme candidature or have recognised Master Degree for Doctoral Programme candidature.
iv. Candidates must not exceed 35 years of age for application of PGD, MOSTI.
v. Candidates who have appropriate current research field. For PGD (MOSTI) applications, the following research field will be given priority:
a. Biotechnology
b. Information Technology and Communications
c. Industry – Advanced Manufacturing Technology, Advanced Material, Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy
d. Sea to Space – Aerospace, Marine Science and Oceanography

The Programme encourages the exchange of relevant experiences, pooling and sharing of resources and the development of complementary capabilities through:

Terms and Conditions of Scholarship/ Fellowship awards under the Malaysian Technical Co-operation Programme (MTCP)
1. General Conditions of Award:
Participants never participate in any MTCP or being awarded scholarship/ awards under the programme. Participants shall conduct themselves at all times in a manner compatible with their responsibilities as MTCP scholarship holders and abide by the laws, rules and regulations of the land and FOSEE, MMU. This scholarship can not be held concurrently with any other scholarship award. For lectures, participants are required to dress in long-sleeved shirts with ties, tailored pant and blazer or uniform. For formal occasions – suit, national costume or batiks. Ladies should be appropriately dressed in office attire.
Participants shall follow the programme approved for them. Request for change of programme will not be entertained. Participants should participate in all activities related to the programme. Participants are not allowed to participate in any political and/or commercial activities in any capacity whatsoever. Participants shall not take up paid employment during the tenure of their scholarship or serve on the staff of their Official Representatives in Malaysia.
* Participants are NOT allowed to bring along their spouses or families for the duration of the course. Participants will be required to return to their own countries upon completion of the course or at the end of the tenure of the scholarship whichever is earlier.
* The award may be terminated at any time for the reasons of unsatisfactory conduct, breaches of the conditions of the award, or failure to make satisfactory progress.
2. Travel Documents and Vaccination:
Persons seeking to enter Malaysia must be in possession of valid passports or other internationally recognized travel documents endorsed for travel to Malaysia. Such passports or other travel documents must be valid for at least 6 months beyond the period of stay allowed in Malaysia. In the case of a national passport not recognized by Malaysia, the holder must be in possession of a document in lieu of a passport obtained at the nearest Malaysian Mission abroad.
Travelers from certain countries are required to produce the Yellow Fever Vaccination Certificate and other health certificates at the entry point in Malaysia.
3. Terms and Condition Covered by the MTCP for International Participants:
* Fares
A return air ticket on economy class is provided. This is from the capital city of the recipient country to Kuala Lumpur and back. Expenditures such as Visa and transit fees, excess baggage fees are borne by the recipients.
* Maintenance Allowance
Full board and accommodation
Daily subsistence allowance will be given if food and accommodation are not made available, especially during attachment or study-tour, other similar arrangements will be made.
* Tuition Fees
Tuition fees will be borne by the Malaysian Government under the MTCP.
* Medical Treatment
Expenses for medical treatment in government hospitals/clinics will be borne by the Government of Malaysia if participants fell sick during the course. In case of admission of government hospitals will be eligible for First Class Wards (two bedded or more). Candidates must be certified medically fit to participate under this programme
* Resource person
Resource persons will be local experts and people in the fields to be selected from the FOSEE, MMU senior officials.
* Methods of Payment
The participants will receive allowance and other benefits as mentioned above from the Economic Planning Unit, Prime Minister’s Department, Malaysia through FOSEE, MMU.

5. How To Apply:
Application must be made using the standard MTCP application forms (PDF) and also obtainable from Malaysian Embassies, High Commissions or Consulates in the respective countries. 3 copies of application forms, supported by a medical report, must be officially submitted through the applicant’s government to the Malaysian Government and must reach the organizer 2 months before the commencement of the course, unless specified otherwise; thus, a copy of the application should be mailed or fax/e-mail directly to:

[Malaysia] Shariah Scholarship Award
Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) provides Shariah Scholar in Islamic Finance. The Shariah Scholarship Award is part of the Fund for Shariah Scholars in Islamic Finance, which was established to enhance knowledge, research, talents, and intellectual discourse in the field of Shariah. The Fund represents Bank Negara Malaysia’s commitment to strengthen the development of the Islamic financial industry. [See also: Shariah Research Grant]
The Scholarship is aimed at enlarging the pool of Shariah scholars who are well-equipped with the necessary knowledge and competencies in both Shariah and Islamic finance.
The Scholarship is available to qualified candidates pursuing the following:
* Post-graduate (Masters or Doctorate) study at recognised institutions of
higher learning in the field of Shariah, specializing in fiqh muamalat;
OR

Eligibility
* The Scholarship is open to citizens of all countries.
* Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree in Shariah studies
from a recognised institution of higher learning, achieving at least a Second
Class Upper or its equivalent.
For the CIFP Scholarship, a special consideration will be accorded
to those with a diploma (or its equivalent) in Shariah studies, but
they must have at least 5 years working experience in the financial
industry.
* Applicants are also expected to have secured admission to EITHER
a Masters or Doctorate programme in Shariah, specializing in fiqh
muamalat, at a recognised institution of higher learning, in a full-time
programme, OR the CIFP programme conducted by INCEIF.
* Current students enrolling in the specified programmes at recognised institutions
of higher learning may also apply for the scholarship.
* Applicants should not be in receipt of any other scholarship awards.
Award Package
Post-Graduate Scholarship
The Post-Graduate Scholarship will cover the approved tuition and examination fees, and the recipient will be provided a quarterly subsistence allowance.
Where and when applicable, other allowances such as for books and equipment, approved return air fare, warm clothing, relocation, end of study and thesis/dissertation completion, will also be provided.
CIFP Scholarship
The CIFP Scholarship will cover the registration and approved examination fees. In addition, the recipient will also be paid a study allowance.
Special Note: There is no employment bond attached to either
scholarships.
